Botox Q & A
What is Botox®?
Botox is a cosmetic treatment designed to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, especially frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet. Fine lines are caused by the repeated use of muscles which allow our face to frown and squint.
The injections will temporarily reduce muscle activity in order to create a visible change in the fine lines of the face. This treatment works underneath the skin’s surface and targets the activity of the muscles which cause the skin to fold and crease.
Botox is one of the only cosmetic treatments for fine lines which has been extensively studied by medical experts. The treatment has been approved for cosmetic procedures in over 50 countries.
What should I expect from Botox injections?
The actual injection procedure usually takes approximately 10 minutes. The doctor will discuss all your goals for the procedure with you and determine exactly what course of treatment you require. It is also important to remember that when the procedure is performed by a professional you should not lose the ability to show expressions.
Treatment also requires very little recovery time and is often referred to as a “lunchtime” procedure. You should begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours and they traditionally last for around 4 months.
